OVERARCHING
OBJECTIVES
The Abundant Assets Alliance UK (AAA UK) is a forum of like minded
organisations that aim to link their expertise, networks and influence
to ensure that all people across the UK can have access to the developmental
assets they need to become healthy, caring, and responsible community
members.
AAA
UK’s vision is:
- To support the
transformation of organisations to be asset-rich resources
- To support statutory
and third sector organisations to be catalysts and partners for community
transformation
- To join with
other organisations across the country to influence social norms and
policies
These
are all ambitious objectives, but with the current wellbeing of our nation,
the powerful effectiveness of the Developmental Assets framework, we believe
there is greater strength in partnering together to help tackle the difficult
challenges our society faces.

DEVELOPMENTAL
ASSETS FRAMEWORK
The Developmental Assets (DA) framework is a model that contains
the main factors that make a person thrive.
- Based on 50 years
of primary and secondary research (including hundreds of academic
studies), used by 2.5 million people worldwide, the DA framework contains
40 factors that a person needs to reach their potential.
- The research
has identified 40 of these assets that fall into 2 broad spheres and
8 subsets. The broader spheres are External factors and Internal factors.
- The External
factors are the structures, relationships and activities that create
a positive environment for personal development. The Internal factors
are the values, skills and beliefs that a person needs to fully engage
and function in the world around them.
- An example of
an External factor would be a participating in a music or sports club.
Internal factors that could be an ability to be a peace maker or having
a positive sense of purpose. These 40 factors together form the Developmental
Assets framework.
